Everybody now is so excited about this brand new social network named as ELLO and it’s no more hidden that people are fleeing from Facebook to get on to ELLO. This social network is just couple of months old, launched in March 2014, is creation of Paul Budnitz (founder of Kidrobot), graphic design lab Berger and Föhr, and technology collective Mode Set. Ello became popular in September 2014 and already receiving about 30,000 signups per hour. For the time being ELLO is invite only network hence you can’t just go and join it, you’ll require an invitation, you can get invitation from someone you know who’s already on ello or simply request one on their homepage.

 Now, what makes ello different than the other social networks, we already have Facebook right ? Well, ello is Simple, beautiful & ad-free network, being ad-free makes it unique so you won’t see those creepy ads you see all the time on Facebook and since there are no ads means ELLO doesn’t collect any of our data as other social networks does for their profit. The designers of ELLO has made sure that you get a clean, simple and smooth interface. Ello lets you do the things that any other social network like Facebook or Twitter does, you can post messages, share links, send messages, etc. There are 2 categories in which you could add people you follow i.e. Friends or Noise and person in question won’t find out what category he/she is in.

Ello takes privacy very seriously and it respects yours, so Ello promises never to sell user’s data to any third party without consent, but it does store user’s data. Let’s say, when you visit Ello, it may collect information about what pages you’re accessing, the device you’re using, the information, posts on their web site, and the address of web sites that refer a user to Ello. The network also stores the user’s name and email address when they register for an account. Ello may collect and store an anonymized version of a user’s IP address, which they may use to protect the site and its users from spam, viruses, or other harmful activities.
